Narrative Game #9 - Inciting Incident Cutscene

In the past week I have designed a cutscene sequence where the protagonist recieves bad news- the inciting incident of the story is revealed. This required feeding dialogue from our story script into the game and designing some visuals to go along with the script.

For this scene, I put my slideshow format to use (and made some adjustments to the structure of the format), opting to visualise this scene with a sequence of images in conjunction with the dialogue. For instance, the image above is a picture the protagonist recieves on his phone. This specific image is shown when the script shows the protagonist opening his phone.

Additionally, objective-based scene transitions have been implemented. In the previous scene the player must interact with four items of interest. When this is complete, the next scene follows. I have designed an objective system which tallies a number of complete objectives. On completion of 100% of the objectives, a scene transition is invoked.

I have also started to design the final segment of this whole prototype, which sees the protagonist in a new setting where they have to perform a task. I am trying to design it in a way which introduces more interesting gameplay mechanics while not being too difficult to complete before the deadline.

Unity VR #0 - Configuration

A beginning to VR development with Unity, I look to produce a 'template' project configured for VR development without having a headset.
