Narrative Game #3 - More Plot Development + Structural Considerations

Over the past few weeks we have honed the overall plot, and increased our focus on how the game will be expressed as a prototype. I have been responsible for tying everything together, taking close consideration of the plot and visuals provided by other team members. I have been assigning tasks, providing guidance, and have been thinking about how the prototype will be developed. As for the actual game, I have begun programming mechanics. This will be explored in the next post.


To summarise:

  • The general structure of the prototype will be as follows: gameplay block 1, cutscene, gameplay block 2

  • The prototype will be based on the first few plot points which include an introduction, followed by an inciting incident (which will be shown in the cutscene); the end of the prototype will cover more gameplay where the protagonist will face their first challenge.

For formative submission, I was responsible for creating a document which summarises our plan so far, how the prototype will be structured around the story, any visual inspiration, etc.
